Ignition MES Developer

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Ignition MES Developer to join our Industrial Automation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions using the Ignition platform. You will collaborate with customers, PLC engineers, and project teams to deliver scalable shop-floor applications, production dashboards, traceability systems, reporting solutions, and IIoT integrations for manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement MES applications using Ignition Perspective and Vision.
- Configure Tags, UDTs, Alarms, Gateway Services, and Named Queries.
- Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and database integrations (SQL Server/PostgreSQL).
- Integrate Ignition with PLCs using OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, and MQTT.
- Develop production dashboards, KPIs, OEE monitoring, and real-time reporting solutions.
- Implement production traceability, downtime monitoring, quality management, and recipe management solutions.
- Develop REST API integrations with ERP, WMS, and third-party applications.
- Troubleshoot MES applications, communication issues, and database performance.
- Support commissioning, FAT, SAT, Go-Live, and Hypercare activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, FDS, SDS, user manuals, and training materials.
- Provide post-implementation support and work closely with onsite and offshore teams.
Requirements
- 4–8 years of hands-on experience in Ignition-based SCADA/MES development.
- Strong experience with Ignition Perspective, Vision, Designer, and Gateway configuration.
- Experience in Jython/Python scripting within Ignition.
- Good knowledge of SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with PLC integration (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi, etc.).
- Knowledge of OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP/IP, and Ethernet/IP communication protocols.
- Experience in MES functionalities such as Production Tracking, Traceability, OEE, SPC, Quality Management, and Downtime Monitoring.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and web service integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
- Willingness to travel for customer deployments when required.
